The Paul Patrick Awards event takes place this Saturday, bringing together the award winners from across the region for a day of networking, sharing experiences and working together to strengthen the voice of young LGBT people in London.

The Consortium provided London youth groups with grants to engage LGBT young people in the political and social workings of London as part of the Paul Patrick Awards 2010.

The Consortium, in partnership with the British Institute of Human Rights (BIHR), is running a one day course.

• support advocacy
• negotiate change in policy and service delivery.

The focus of the day will be how to reach LGBT individuals and increase their positive involvement as Volunteers.

A day conference on issues and practice related to mental health and LGBT young people

The Consortium and the National Support Service are running an event for LGBT organisations to help identify and increase utilisation of infrastructure agencies. This day will be themed on accessing support around funding to help create a sustainable LGBT Third Sector.

FFLAG and the Parenting Project are hosting a joint event for the parents and carers of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans (LGBT) and questioning people

Aim of the day
The day will be an opportunity to meet parents and carers of LGBT people from across the UK, discuss what is happening locally and nationally as it affects LGBT people and their families and develop skills through training. A selection of skills or issue based workshops and information will be available on the day.

The “Third Sector Review” consultation has been ongoing since May 2006 to ascertain what the Government should spend in relation to voluntary and community sector and social enterprise. Results will form the spending plans for the next three years across all Government departments’ activities – to ensure that the Third Sector can play a part in public service delivery and local planning.
