I am not sure about you, but I think I missed its arrival, but hey we are famed for our weather after all! Despite this deluge of awful weather, Pride season is very much underway and it has been great to see the reports of how they have gone. |

5 July 2012 - 9:20am Challenging homophobia and celebrating differenceThe full programme for Britain’s main event for education and youth professionals has now been released. Join us and learn how to celebrate difference, support gay young people and tackle homophobic bullying. 5 July 2012 - 12:00pm A unique, international, multi-faith panel discussion, sponsored by the Cutting Edge Consortium, 12 noon to 4:30pm. Catholic, Muslim, Unitarian, Buddhist, Jewish, Quaker contributors will be among those taking part, coming from the USA, Malta, Germany, Italy and Uganda. They will speak on how their faith/belief/culture strengthens them in their various struggles for LGBT civil rights, as well as pointing to negative forces blocking progress. 7 July 2012 - 11:00am World Pride celebrations will go ahead on a smaller scale than originally planned. Everyone wants to see a safe, enjoyable event, which is why it is starting and finishing earlier than in previous years. Anyone joining the procession should be in Portman Square by 10am and be ready to set off at 11am. In the interest of safety, there will be no floats or vehicles in the procession. The celebration in Trafalgar Square will finish at 6pm. As with other large scale events, access will be restricted if it reaches capacity. There are also no planned street events in Soho and people should not go there expecting open air entertainment. Normal licensing will be in place and bars are expected to be extremely crowded, with limited capacity. The Consortium is offering a number of services to support Members in the Community Area at World Pride, for more information and to request services visit here. 8 July 2012 - 2:00pm This is the annual, policy-making conference of the Campaign for Homosexual Equality (CHE). NOTE: This is a change of venue from previous years.The venue is accessible for the less-abled.Registration commences at 2pm. Proceedings start at 2:30pm and conclude at 6pm at the latest.Light refreshments provided.Closing date for submitting Constitutional Amendments: Tuesday 8 May 2012. (Constitutional Amendments need the signatures of 6 paid-up CHE members.) 8 July 2012 - 3:00pm I:ME is the name of the a new group which is a gathering of BME LGBT people and their family and friends, a welcoming place to chat and relax. Meeting the second Sunday of the month, from 3pm - 7pm. The group provides a relaxing, informal afternoon with music by DJ Shorty and free buffet. The EDS is designed as a tool to be used to help staff and all NHS organisations understand how equality can drive improvements and strengthen the accountability of services to patients and the public. The EDS is all about making positive differences to healthy living and lives. 13 July 2012 - 3:00pm In it's 8th year Sparkle is a weekend festival of all things transgender, with live entertainment on the Sparkle stage, meals, clubs, talks and workshops, information/support and so much more. The Consortium will be running a workshop at the event looking at our Trans Action Plan and the opportunities this year presents for the trans communities. To find out more and to buy tickets for the Gala Dinner Dance visit the Sparkle website. 15 July 2012 - 2:00pm Outhouse East is hosting a drop-in from 2pm to 4pm for parents who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual or trans. The purpose of the event is to introduce the Outhouse team and speak with parents about what (if anything) they would like from a service. 18 July 2012 - 6:30pm The night is very informal and welcomes everyone! There will be coffee, tea, cold drinks and cake all at a very reasonable price.
